I have been thinking about what this site will look like, and I really like what a group from Oxford University did at http://www.oxpand.org so I am borrowing some of their ideas. Take a look and leave some comments! Click here: Platform Vision Another great site is www.icouldbe.org – this site connects kids in the US with volunteer mentors; a similar concept to what I hope to help enable between displaced persons around the world and volunteer teacher mentors.

Hi Gail
I agree that the Oxford website has some good things to leverage. I wonder if you could speak with someone from that program about their experiences?
Until I looked at their site, I had totally overlooked the need for translators. That introduces a whole other level of complexity. University students might be expected to be comfortable in English but what percentage of young children will be ok without a translator?
On the flip side, I can see some of the university courses having issues with discipline-related jargon e.g. Chemical engineering terms. Maybe that will be less of an issue for you.
Just FYI I was looking at your vision document and was offered the opportunity to edit it. I didn’t try to do so! Maybe you intended to give full access but if not, I would write-protect it !

Lisa- I did talk with the woman who created the Oxford site – unfortunately, her program ended when she left the school, but she did share a lot of her experience with me, she was very helpful! I checked the link and it still says comment-only — I think if you had tried to edit, it would have directed you to request access (I hope?)
